carry … off 1. 轻而易举地完成(任务、职责等):He carried off the difficult situation calmly. 镇静地应付了困难的局面。2. 赢得,获得(奖品、荣誉等):Jean carried off all the prizes. 简赢得了全部奖品。
carry on (with) 继续做,坚持:We can carry on our meeting after lunch. 午饭后我们可以继续开会。Carry on with your homework. 继续做你的家庭作业吧。They still carried on talking when the teacher came in. 老师进来时他们还在讲话。
carry out 1. 实行,执行,完成,实现:The new government carried out a new policy. 新政府实行了一项新政策。2. 履行(诺言、义务等):They have failed to carry out their obligations. 他们没有履行自己的职责。
carry through 1. 度过(困难、艰难等),度过难关,使撑到底:His strong determination carried him through his illness. 他坚强的意志使他度过了疾病难关。2. 实现,完成:carry a project through despite difficulties 不顾困难地完成一项计划

consecutive
adj.1. 连续的,连贯,依次相续的:He was re-elected for four consecutive terms. 他连着四届当选。The dull ache in his belly made consecutive thought impossible. 腹中的隐痛使他不可能作连贯的思考。
consensus
n. 1. 一致的意见,多数人的意见:There can be wide differences of opinion on separate issues within a broad consensus. 在广泛一致的前提下,在个别问题上可能有很大的分歧。
on the contrary: (用来表示强烈反对或不赞同别人刚说过的话)正相反,恰恰相反:It wasn’t a good thing; on the contrary it was a huge mistake. 这并不是件好事,相反,这简直是一个大错误。
